I have a HZ 1 tonner with the HQ front etc, and I changing the front and guards over to HZ style. The front Cowl Panel has some rust in it and I want to replace the whole piece. I have read that the 1 tonners have a different Cowl Panel and will of of the after market pieces for HZ fit straight in or is it best to leave it there and try and repair this section

Hi, looking in Holdenpaedia i found the tailshaft length for the HQ-HZ V8 Ute, 1505mm. I am wondering though where these measurements are taken from and to, i.e. the extreme outside to outside measurement of from end of the shaft to the other and excluding the yokes? Any ideas?

The tailshaft i have was out of a 253 so i assumed it to be the correct one but it seems to come up short, meaning that it doesn't seem to insert into the transmission far enough. Bearing in mind that the chassis has no body on it and i do understand that by adding the body and pushing the chassis down as the weight of it will do the tailshaft should move further into the transmission.

Just want to check the length so i know it's just going to be the difference of the body weight.

heres the story,, i havent driven my hz in about 4 days and i jumped into it first thing after work on friday arvo and it started first time. i drove it about 20kms to the town and fueled up (on gas)
and went to drive off but it wouldnt bloody start, it turns over fine but dosent run and after a while of tryin to start it, it gets real sluggy and sounds like the battery is dead, had to role down a hill everywhere i went to start it, anyone know what this could be?

Looking for a bell housing to suit a v8 trimatic. If you've got a V8 Tri and she's stuffed here's your chance to offload it.
As long as it's going to fit a Red 308 i don't care what model it's off.
In Melbourne Sth, Sth East suburbs but will travel to pick up for the right price.

finally got the ute running smooth, I even swapped over the idle and power jets which I had replaced in the wrong side###. So now its all good. Here is a pic with the jets removed The 56jet went back in the passage at top of pic and the 54/2 at the bottom.
Its such a good feeling to fix a nagging problem.

Need a Flexplate to suit Red 308 with Trimatic for tomorrow morning.

Or if you have one and are going to Berwick maybe i can get it from there.

I am in Keysborough Vic and will need to pick up Sat AM if possible.

If you can help let me know with a price, i will be checking in here till late tonight.

Hi there other old holden fans.
Looking for some help with my build. I am Building a mock up HZ GTS optioned windowless Panel Van. The original body is a WB.
Im going to make the engine bay look as factory but still clean and uncluttered, i now that the WB has considerable differences to the HZ, booster, firewall etc. but this will probably help in the tidying up of the engine bay. Just wondering if anyone has any info or tips that they could share. Example what were the finishes on thins like the heater fan, wiper motor, brake booster. what parts were zinc plated/gold or zinc coloured. which bits were matt or gloss. etc etc. I'm also planning on hiding as many wires as possible, if anyone has any tips there that would be great.

hi all

my work in progress has a mis-match of front seats, door trims, arm rests and back seat

the car orignally had the nice dove grey trim but its all long gone

I dont like dark or gloomy interiors and have replaced the door trims with a nice set of HZ chamois ones

The Short console and armrests are in the process of being vynal sprayed, i bought white but its a totaly bright white - i will go back and see if they have chamois or similar, otherwise i will do a buckskin or doeskin or light grey

Now the front seats are not a problem as they will get seat covers - the drivers seat has been replaced with a Hyundai buckets so that i can fit in the car

this leaves the back seat- its a proper HJ premier seat but its jet black ( and probably vynal sprayed )

I'm currently looking for a front bench seat for my HZ. If anyone has info on one please let me know, thanks.

Evening all.Just back from going over the hill to buy a second hand dizzy.Reading holdenpeadia iv found ive got a VK mutipoint(9230064720),the peadia says that for straight red engines its not the best as it cant advance as far, but as an aside it also says that its the best call for any engine not running a varijet carb.I have a stromberg,should i on sell it get a older model or will it be a dog in the future as the 6 gets power ups.Oh yeah does anyone know the ignition module part number for a 8 cylinder bosch dizzy as i dont want to pull it out in the rain! i will try to take advantage of supercheap(T the last post wasnt an attempt to curry favour ,its just worked out that way cheers)

I need some help with choosing a carby.
Its for my HZ Kingswood wagon running a rebuilt 253, basically stock with a crow cam (5666) edelbrock peformer manifold and electronic ignition.
Currently I'm running a rebuilt rochester off a VL supposedly jetted to suit the 253.
I know she will never be an economical enging but she just uses way to much juice, the carby is way overfueling and bloody runs on all the time. I found out after I had it rebuilt that rochesters off 253's can be made to suit 308's but not the other way around.
What I want to know is what would be the best carby for my needs, the car is a daily driver so I wanna get the most bang for my buck that I can.

I am buying a project van and it has a single lift up tailgate I've never seen before. No I wasn't born when panelvans were still in production.. :-P
The guy says it's worth a decent amount. What do you guys think it's worth? I am a fan of the normal ones myself so I would be looking to sell it on to someone who respects it more. Comes with a big bubble-glass window. (no not real glass I don't think)
I'll get some photo's up when I can. Not pristine condition and I cannot answer specific questions yet as I didn't spend too long inspecting it today.

Does anyone know the correct size idle jets for a 202 red motor? Mine seems to have a 56 and a 55 of slighly different design. ie the central spring mounted pin sit low in one of them. Any help appreciated aj

I have a woodgrain lid thats in pretty faided condition, and instead of buying another one i was planning on dyeing it black and putting a 4 speed sticker over the holden logo part.

gday a quick question would you get any benifit by mounting a themo fan either side of ur radiator and have a oil cooler adjacent to the fan in front of the radiator? if that makes sence.

G'day guys im looking at putting a thermo fan on to get rid of my engine fan, i think its giving the engine the wobbles and its pretty noisy, i've searched everywhere to see the cfm of the stock fan so i can find out what size and how many thermos i should put on to match/exceed.

So if anyone knows a stock 202 engine fan cfm that would be fantastic or if anyone has cost effective cooling ideas? Its a warm 202 with a v8 radiator, as it is my temp guage sits at middle while driving.

You will have no idea how hard it is to get one of these. Ive been keeping my eye out for 6 months, and eventually did find one belonging to DOH MAN which i payed him to ship across the other side of the country (Much appreciated by the way). It turned out to be too big, either mine or his was from a slightly different mirror.

gday guys last year i was goin to get dave to make me an adaption plate for my ww stromie to go on a varajet manifold. If i got a 186s manifold and tig welded the 12 port flanges on would that be a better way do go?
