hey there im looking for a good pair of hz,hx kingswood front door trims for my hj ute
it doesnt matter if faded or a bit old looking as i will paint them black to go by the sandman interior look i would preffer ones without huge holes in them but show me what u have if u got some laying around or wrecking a car

Hey Guys,

Just finishing off my Tonner and need a bit of help/advice. Atm when the wipers are turned on they work fine but when turned to the next speed up nothing really changes, they keep running but at the same speed with a bit of a grinding noise comming from the motor.

Is this a dead motor or a possibly fixable motor?

need this done as its the last thing before i can go for blue slip.

My brother seems to have given up his dream of doing up his panel van and is now selling it
I have annoyed him for years about getting off his ass and putting some elbow grease into it
but now he just wants to get in a car and drive it, when he is not running that is, which is all he does
now.... run in marathons.

He had a new 308 for it but sitting around got to it and it needed rebuilding, he sent it off
never to be seen again, I dont know what the story is but Im quite pissed that we didnt even get
it back.
His auction is not very descriptive in my mind as he spent quite a lot of time collecting the parts he has

Hi,all....
One of my old Bosch electronic dizzies(off a blue motor??)needs the twin wires that goes to dizzy replaced as they are old and crinkly,with splits.
Easy enough job to do,but not sure what ampage wiring to use.
I have 15amp wires lying around somewhere I can use...will they be strong enough??

I was wondering if anyone had some knowledge on where I can get a hardlid for my HZ ute, I have seen aluminium hardlids advertised a while ago but can't seem to find any now. Not worried about the particular material as long as it's professional. Preferably in the VIC or lower NSW areas.

i was wondering if anyone had a v8 vn dip stick to part with, i was going to use my old one off the blue motor hoping it'd line up with on of the bolt holes but it doesnt. or if i can buy after market one from somewhere.
oh and i have 2 aussie 4 speeds for sale, a trimatic, 2 253s pulled apart ones std bore, 6 cyl 3.08 diff to suit tonner, tonner aluminium tray, old v8 extractors, 6cyd hq rad support, blue , black manifold. if someone wants something let me no, make an offer!

Hi Guys, New to this site, First Post.
I'm interested in finding out Info on mini tubbing my HZ sedan.
I have a good idea of what needs to happen, But I was hoping I could see some pics and even a "how to" Guide before I get started.

I'm considering removing the chassis rail and moving it across to the edge of the spring mount and modifying it to be re-fit. Then welding a strip in to keep original inner guards.
I want this to all look factory when its done.
Has anyone attempted this???

Im looking to put a front spoiler on my HX (has a standard HX front)... Whilst trying to test fit i have found it seems that the vent holes hit on the bottom of the front ??? On Monaro's and any car that has them factory fitted was this section cut out ? otherwise what is the go with this ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick one guys, have recently broke a interior door handle on my hz ute. it snaped because the latch on the door is getting increasingly harder and harder to open the door. i got a new handle today but dont want to put it on yet as i dont want it to snap like the other one. outside handle hasnt gone yet!
whats a good way on making these doors easier to open?

Ive got one handy and they targeting the ute.Ive got locking petrol caps but there are ways around it ,screwdriver,Are there new locking caps on the market that are a bit more robust?
Tried the stakeout a few times when fuels high but no luck,cant park out side where i live as main road no parking at all times.A motion sensor was tried but the trucks set it off,not the petrol nappers. any ideas?

My max Ellery book tells me to have the arrows are pointing away from the engine (Page67), whilst the Gregories Book tells me to ensure that the arrows facing towards the center of the engine. (Page 11)

Which do I follow ?

Have been looking around for a new thrust bearing for the 253 3 speed manual for my HZ with a pull clutch.

Went into Repco and requested a GSB 319 but when it turned up it looked nothing like the one in the attached picture.

It was approx 1cm thick only.

Repco were confused when I showed them the picture as it does not match what they have in the books or on the screen of the PC.

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

Hi all,

'bought a 308 of Evilbay (was working when removed from car-yeah I know!:) ). Anyway there's a slight backfire through the carby (constant put-put backfire) unless the ignition is heavily retarded. +20 degree btdc. I've checked top dead centre, harmonic balancer alignment, and the advance curve (HEI ign) and the quadie was recently rebuilt and working fine on different motor.

Any ideas?

Just fired up the HZ after replacing some cooling components, only to find that the alternator charge light remains on and wont go out. Also, the fuse for the dash instruments (15A) is blowing within a second or two of starting the engine; (havent yet confirmed if it blows when the "ignition" is turned on or if its happening during the start phase...... would this make a difference?).

apart from disconnect the battery lead, i havent touched any of the wiring. Where would be the likely places to look for a "short"??????

ive decided i want to spend the next four years and up to $12,500 now with the panel and paint and everyting roughly accounted for i have $3,700 left for the motor witch is a red 253 that i alrady have anyone have any ideas on what i should to to this. all ideas are welcome and greatly appreciated

Just thought I would try my luck again. I am looking for a project car and for a very long time I have always wanted to have my surf car. Ideally I am searching for a Sandman, I am not fussed what make it is, nor am I really concerned about the condition (to a certain extent). Hi there. I have a couple problems that i could use some help with.

My indicators are irregular, but i cannot seem to find the regulator. Can anyone help?

Also, my cigarette lighter, rear demister and heating all run off one fuse. None of them work, however the light inside the rear de-mister switch turns on, and when i use a volt meter over the fuse arch it reads 12v. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,all.Me back for another whinge again.
Going from my experiences (therefore posts here) 3 months ago and also last week,I have another question to ask.
I have 2 Bosch electronic dizzies.One from my LH when I drove it for a couple weeks earlier this year,but not since.It had very lumpy cam,sports head etc red 202 with new electricals(leads,plugs etc) and 12v coil.but terrible pinging and a loss of power under load.The best the timing could be gotten was around 20-25BTDC.
Last week I also upgraded my HZ standard 202,from points to a 2nd-hand Bosch electronic dizzy.I have new electricals...ie.leads,cap,rotor button,NGK plugs(BPR5FS-15...recommended by NGK head office techie)I upgraded the almost new 12VOLT coil from a no-name(??) to a MSD Blaster-3 12V.

Hi all, I have to fix a couple of oil leaks coming from the side cover plate on my m20 4 speed. The gearbox is still in the car so I had remove the cover on my back under the car and as I took it out one of the selector forks came out and the other stayed in it's place.

The one that stayed in it's place was secured in the middle of two notched levers, no problem there as I know where to put it back. What I wanted to know is does the other selector fork/shaft assembly also go back into the centre notches of those levers?

Attached is a pic of where the shaft was on one side, so does the other also go in thr same spot on the other side when reistalling the cover/plate?

Converting a hz from auto to aussie 4 speed have full cable "pull type" clutch cable pedal etc. Can or has anyone got a tech drawing or clear photo of the correct positioning of a late hz cable clutch set up under the dash?
ie: what bolt holes and spacing for the cable bracket that the clutch pedal bolts through?
any difference between bolt length between auto and manual brake pedal?
what does the spring act against? any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Not long ago the carbi went on my 253, i have had a new Qjet fitted but have had trouble getting it running properly, it just seems more gutless than it used to...any ideas? is there a better carbi i could fit?
